School Age Programs (Ages 5-12)
This section lists school age programs available in each geographic area. Each organization that provides preschool programs is listed below. Locations for each program are listed in tables to make it easier to identify which site is appropriate for each family’s needs. Some programs may not have locations listed if there is an online list already provided by the organization.
King County
Seattle
The Associated Recreation Council: The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities. The school age program offers after school programs for children ages 5-12 (kindergarten through 6th grade and below). Use this link to register at a school age care site. This link lists costs for after school care for 2, 3, and 5 days a week as well as care locations.
Launch Learning: A nonprofit organization that collaborates with families, schools, and community partners to engage children and prepare them for school and life success. They provide before and after school programs for children in grades K–5 and full-time enrichment programs during school breaks. Launch Learning is open Monday through Friday, with morning programs starting at 7:00 a.m. and afternoon programs ending at 6:00 p.m. During the pandemic, their hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The program includes homework time, virtual field trips, enrichment activities, and outdoor play.

YMCA of Greater Seattle: Before and After-School Enrichment (BASE) program provides a safe and caring place outside of the classroom to experience sports, arts, STEM, and other hands-on learning activities. The YMCA partners with school districts across King and south Snohomish counties to provide our programs at your local elementary school. Costs: There is a $50 registration fee (capped at $100 per family). The daily rate is $20-$50 depending on the day and length of care. The full time rate is $350-$500 per month depending on how many days per week the students are enrolled for. To see full rate details please see this document.
Registration: This is a three-step process that is detailed here. Families must enroll in “Registration Fee,” complete the Registration Packet electronically, and then selecting a childcare location and schedule. If you have any questions, please use the above contact information to connect with the YMCA’s child care team.
*NOTE* For DCYF Subsidy Families: If you pay the $50 registration fee, it will be refunded back to you after your authorization is received. DCYF pays for your registration fee. If the $50 fee prevents you from registering immediately, contact your local child care office to complete this step without paying.
For Private Pay Families: There is a $100 max per family. If you pay more than $100 in registration fees, the additional amount over $100 will be credited to your account.

The Associated Recreation Council: The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks and Recreation, serves Seattle by offering a variety of recreational and lifelong learning programs, classes and activities. The tween/teen programs serve children aged 12-14. Registration can be done through this link.
Seattle Parks and Rec: The Teen and Youth Development unit provides a variety of great teen opportunities including technology training, pre-employment training, employment opportunities, service-learning/volunteer opportunities, out-of-school time programs, social recreation, and more!

- Seattle Parks and Recreation has a wide range of service-learning and community service opportunities in your neighborhoods. Please consult your counselor or teacher at your school to find what the requirements are for your respective school and to have the project approved.

● Community Learning Centers
- Community Learning Centers (CLC) are Out-of-School Time (OST) programs coordinated by Seattle Parks and Recreation staff professionals, based out of Seattle Public School sites and offered during and after school, at lunchtime, and on school breaks (Mid-Winter, Spring) and Summer.
● Teen Life Centers and Late-Night Programs
- Seattle Parks and Recreation has three Teen Life Centers that offer a wide array of programming to Seattle area youth including: special events, Late Night Programs, computer labs, recording studios, cooking classes, social recreation and much more.
● Late Night Programs
- Late Night is a safe and supportive environment for teens ages 13-19. This recreation-based program is held on Fridays and Saturday evenings from 7 pm-12 am with a focus on positive teen interactions and engagement where all teens are welcomed.

YMCA of Greater Seattle: The YMCA offers a variety of teen activities including cooking, dance, movement, and science programs.
