MAPS-AMEN
The American Muslim Empowerment Network at the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS-AMEN) is an outreach and advocacy organization that seeks to fulfill the justice mandate in Islam and empower the community by focusing on education, engagement, encouragement of positive media change, and empowerment. We build bridges of understanding and unity to achieve peace, justice, and dignity for all. Led by an Afghan-American attorney, MAPS-AMEN partnered with the Statewide Refugee Coordinator in Washington to coordinate the resettlement of new Afghan arrivals after the fall of Kabul to the Taliban in August 2021, and was the authorized contractor for the State of Washington to provide cultural orientation training for Afghans resettled in Washington state through the State Afghan Placement and Assistance program (SAPA). MAPS-AMEN is also part of the national Learning Collaborative by Hello Neighbor and Welcome.US to support Afghan refugees.
